X Ambassadors have been busy over the past year. There’s been a name change from Ambassadors to X Ambassadors and their music drew the attention of Alex Da Kid, the world-renowned producer and the man behind Imagine Dragons’ critically acclaimed label debut, Night Visions. X Ambassadors’ Sam Harris talked about working with Alex Da Kid and eventually signing to his label KIDinaKORNER Records, (an Interscope Imprint,) in a recent interview with Alternative Addiction.
“It happened really organically” stated Harris. “We had been hustling and doing our thing for a couple of years before Alex reached out to us. It happened really quickly. He hit us up because Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons had heard an acoustic version of “Uncolsolable.” He told Alex about the band and he immediately reached out to us. I happened to be in London at the same time as him. He and I got a drink and we spent a couple of hours talking about music. From then on out, we knew we were on the same page with things and had a couple of subsequent meetings. We went into the studio in January with him. We wrote two songs together and worked on music. It was so instinctive working with him. It just felt right. After that, we all decided to move forward. We buckled down and got a contract together and that was that.”
If you’ve followed KIDinaKORNER and the label’s success with Imagine Dragons and their debut album, you can see similarities between how Imagine Dragons was worked and how X Ambassadors are being worked. The formula so far has seen the band release an EP and work a song to radio, just like Imagine Dragons. Following that same formula, the full length label debut from X Ambassadors is just around the corner. Harris confirmed as much with us saying they’re going to be working on that album in just a couple of months. He also mentioned a unique new video they just made that will be released in the coming days.
“We just made a new video with these guys called Ends out of L.A. and this video is really going to be pretty amazing. There’s not a lot out there right now that’s like it. It’s a very simple story about these two brothers. It’s very powerful and it looks incredible. We’re going to be pushing that a lot. We’re thinking about everything that goes along with putting this debut album together too. We might release an EP before the album too. The goal right now is just to create and to tour. We like to write and we want to keep giving our fans more and more material.”
