In the latest issue of Alternative Press, the magazine lauded British quintet Young Guns as “A Band You Need To Know.” “Young Guns have grown phenomenally in the UK,” they wrote. “And they’re beginning to make their mark in the US, too.” Truer words were never spoken. After 32 consecutive weeks of steady climbing, Young Guns have hit No. 1 on the Active Rock radio chart with “Bones,” the lead single/title track off their Wind-up Records debut. As a result, Young Guns are the new record-holders for longest unbroken march to the top (meaning they never lost a “bullet” in their climb to No. 1). They’re the only new act on the chart’s top ten and they hold the distinction of being the highest-charting new band at Active Rock Radio in 2012. And the “Bones” video has amassed more than 1.7 million views on YouTube.

Says lead singer Gustav Wood, “To hit No. 1 in America is something most bands, including ourselves, can usually only ever dream about. To have done it with our debut single is something that is almost too incredible for us to believe. But, here we are alongside, and for the time being above, bands that we grew up listening to and we are so excited and grateful. We'll never forget this achievement and we owe a huge thanks to the radio stations that have had faith in us and took a chance in playing our music, the people we work with at Wind-up Records, The Agency Group, Raw Power Management and BWR, and most importantly, anyone who has called in to a station to request our song or cares about our band. We're full of momentum and energy and can't wait to get to South By Southwest in a few days and then come back for the Bullet For My Valentine tour in April. We feel like we haven't yet scratched the surface and we can't wait to kick on!”

On the other side of the Atlantic, UK rock mag Kerrang! awarded “Bones” the No. 1 spot on its list of the 250 Greatest Rock Songs of 2012. Q Magazine also praised the band for being at the forefront of The New NEW Wave of British Heavy Metal and for “broadening the [genre’s] sound to the point where it’s closer to an amped-up version of alternative rock.”

The uninitiated can catch Young Guns (Wood, guitarists Fraser Taylor and John Taylor, bassist Simon Mitchell and drummer Ben Jolliffe) this week in Austin, TX, where the Brits will be playing six shows at SXSW, including the Wind-up Records 15th Anniversary Party on March 14th, the Tillys and Raw Power parties on March 15th and the Alternative Press, Quantum Collection Whole Foods Showcase and Sony City Showcase, all three on March 16th. On April 12th, they’ll hit the road with Bullet For My Valentine and Halestorm as part of this year’s hardDrive Live Tour.

Over the course of the past few years, the London-based quintet has emerged as one of the UK's most electrifying new bands, garnering radio play and UK chart success while playing to packed-house crowds all across Europe, including a main stage performance at the Reading Festival, where they tore up the stage as part of a lineup that included Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, Guns N' Roses and Modest Mouse. iTunes spotlighted them in their “Best of 2012: Rock Albums” feature & XBox Music hailed them with “Who’s Next/Best of 2012” alongside Alabama Shakes, Elle Varner and Two Door Cinema Club. They also recently did a Daytrotter session, earned a Revolver Golden Gods nomination  in the “Best New Talent” category, and are making their 2010 album, All Our Kings Are Dead, available digitally for the first time ever in the U.S. Don't miss your chance to catch Young Guns live.
