The on-again/off-again relationship between the members of Stone Temple Pilots is off again with a short announcement released through the band's publicist this morning.

In the shortest press release possibly ever, the band's publicist Kymm Britton said in a statement, "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland." No point in beating around the bush.

Weiland had recently announced a new solo tour and had been in the news recently stating he'd be open to a Velvet Revolver reunion. The vocalist has seen his share of troubles over the years, fighting drug addiction and a multitude of other problems.

We're not sure where this leaves STP, (will they try and find a new lead singer?) At press time, nothing regarding the termination of Weiland had been posted on the band or Weiland's official twitter account. We'll have more news on Stone Temple Pilots regarding the split as they're released.
