MGMT is set to release their third studio album sometime in June, according to a report from Rolling Stone magazine. The pair have been hard at work recording the album in a cabin outside of Buffalo, New York.
"We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it," explained Ben Goldwasser of the new LP, which he adds is inspired by Aphex Twin and house music.
The album will include the song "Alien Days," which the band debuted at the Festival Estereo Picnic in Colombia last April. Andrew VanWyngarden described the song as "about that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things."
The follow-up to MGMT's 2010 release, Congratulations, currently has no title or exact due date.
