The soundtrack to HBO's hit series, Girls, will feature "Sight of the Sun," by Fun. The compilation, labeled Volume 1, hits stores on January 8.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the song is "a meditative, steady-pumping pop ode" that the band left off Some Nights due to an uncleared sample.
Fronter Nate Ruess says the band "got really dejected and put it away until [show creator] Lena [Dunham] called."
"I ended up rewriting the chorus and actually like it better than the sample now! We recorded most of this in Italy on a day off from tour and I just remember us eating an Italian feast at the studio and barely being able to communicate with the engineers, which was kind of cool because it eliminated all small talk and put the focus into the song," added Ruess.
Girls - Volume 1 also features Sleigh Bells, Robyn and Fleet Foxes.
