Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will premiere his directorial debut, Sound City, a documentary on Los Angeles' Sound City Studios, at next year's Sundance Film Festival.
Sound City reunites Grohl with fellow Nirvana alum, bassist Krist Novoselic as well as Nevermind producer Butch Vig and is based on the studio, which closed this past May.
The trio of Grohl, Novoselic and Vig have recorded several new tracks for the project. Grohl said that he got the idea to make the documentary after he bought a recording console from the studio.
Sound City Studios is most well-known for being the recording studio for Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and Nirvana's Nevermind. First to record at the studio when it opened in 1970 was Neil Young, who put down After The Gold Rush at the famed studio.
