The guitar that Kurt Cobain smashed in the video for Nirvana's breakout 1991 single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is now on the auction block. The destroyed instrument is expected to fetch between $25,000 and 30,000 later this month at Christie's in London.

During the video, Cobain takes the Zen-On instrument, which bassist Krist Novoselic bought from a pawn shop, and beats it against the ground, rendering it unplayable.

According to The Independent, Novoselic purchased the guitar knowing that it would not make it through the video shoot in one piece. After the video shoot, one of the extras took the instrument's body home.

Other items at the auction include Bob Dylan's 1958 high school yearbook, featuring a handwritten message by the legendary folk singer.
