Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford says the band may be prepping to recording a new album. Commerford connected with TMZ.com while exiting a restaurant in Malibu, California earlier this month and shed hope that there may soon be a new release from the band.

When asked about the potential for a new album Commerford said "maybe . . . maybe."

If the band is in fact working on a new release, it will be its first since 2000's Renegades.

The band has not been entirely dormant since its last release, however, playing in London in 2010 and Los Angeles in July 2011. The London show came as a special treat to English fans who helped Rage hijack the highly prized number one radio single during the Christmas holiday with their classic track "Killing in the Name."
