Muse, who are currently prepping the release of their forthcoming album, The 2nd Law, say that U2 served as an inspiration on the record. The band served as a touring support act for U2 on their 360 tour of last year.

Frontman Matt Bellamy, in an interview with Classic Rock magazine, says that, in particular, fans might hear a little Achtung Baby on The 2nd Law:

"We toured with U2 last year in South America. And there's definitely a little bit of influence come on to this album, a little bit of [1991 album] Achtung Baby here and there."

However, Bellamy previously noted that each song on the LP brings something different to the table:

"Every song has been produced very specifically and differently to whatever is best for the song. I think it's definitely our most diverse album."
