Months ago Coldplay began issuing wristbands to fans at concerts that flash in time with the beat of the live music. Now the band is reconsidering the decision.

Frontman Chris Martin, speaking with The Sun, said it has proved to be a costly venture:

"Most of the money we're earning on the tour is put into the wristbands. We have to figure out how to keep it going without going broke because it's a crucial part of the concert."

He added that the group considered re-using discarded bands, but that it was deemed a public health risk:

"You have to clean everything in case someone picks up herpes or TB. Our lawyers told us we'd get sued, and having been sued a few times we're not keen on that."

Since the group started the promotion, they've given out roughly 40,000 wrist bands.
