Pearl Jam's bassist, Jeff Ament, says that the group has reached the halfway mark in recording its 10th, yet-to-be-titled album.

While speaking with Rolling Stone, Ament said that taking the opportunity to record, while in the midst of their 20th anniversary activities, was a wise decision.

"We're at least at the halfway point," he said. "The first handful of songs we had are a great, great start. It's been really important for us that in the middle of all this, we got together and recorded a bunch of songs."

He added: "It sort of gave us a breath to go, 'Okay, we can go back and get ready for the show and book and movie and all that stuff.'"
Earlier this year, the group gave fans a teaser in the form of a free download titled "Ole."
