Glenn Beck made My Chemical Romance's "Sing" the target of a recent attack. The talk show host read aloud the lyrics before breaking them down for viewers on a recent show.

"Pay attention to the lyrics," he cautioned. "This is propaganda; it's an anthem saying 'Join us.' How can you and I possibly win against that?"

The lyrics in question were somewhat obscure: "Sell it till your last days / Buy yourself the motivation / Generation nothing / Nothing but a dead scene / Product of a white dream."

Beck argued that the lyrics urged America's youth to throw away the values of their parents while indulging in amorality. Then he told the story of his producer, Joe, whose parents escaped from North Korea and wound up living the American dream.

Joe's mother also reportedly threw away the family television--an action which Beck highly recommended to his viewers.

Now the band's lead singer, Gerard Way, has responded via a blog posted on MCR's website on Saturday (Apr. 30): "Think the word Glenn Beck was looking for was 'subversion' not 'propaganda,' because I don't know what it would be considered propaganda for - truth? sentiment?"
