In a recent interview, Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash put an end to the rumors that Slipknot and Stone Sour singer Cory Taylor will replace Scott Weiland as the band's next lead singer, but it was confirmed that Taylor tried out for the band's vacant lead singer position, he just didn't 'seem to fit right' according to Slash.

"So he did come in and do all that. It just didn't seem to fit right to me," Slash told vorterix.com.  "And he's great, and I love Corey, but it didn't seem like the answer to the Velvet Revolver problem."

Slash blamed the social networks for spinning the rumor out of control after it was reported that Taylor auditioned with the band.

Because of the social networking, and the way that information gets out so quickly now, we did work with Corey Taylor, and as soon as that rumor [got around], next thing you know, everybody is saying Corey's the new singer. It's just an audition process; it's the way that we do it," said Slash.

In related news, Stone Sour recently reported that bassist Shawn Economaki has left the band due to personal issues.  The band’s upcoming tour dates with Theory of a Deadman, Skillet, Halestorm and Art of Dying will not be affected by the departure.

@ Knubbs -- You're an idiot. Slash has done more and achieved more accolades than Stone Sour. Don't get me wrong, I like SS, but Slash is one of the all time greats. Who else can pen "Sweet Child O'Mine" at 18 years of age? Time to rack-n-stack the achievements bro. You're way off

Good! Stone Sour is way better than Velvet Revolver will ever be. Time to hang it up Slash! G&R sucks!
