It looks like 2011 might mark the year that Blink-182 will finally follow up their previous, self-titled, release, marking the first album for the pop-punk group in eight years.

In a recent blog post, Blink singer Mark Hoppus wrote that the group has "been busy with new songs and ideas," adding that "Some tracks are very near complete. In rough terms, I'd say we're working with the better part of ten or so songs at this point."

The bassist/vocalist continued, "There's still a long way to go before the album is done . . . But already it seems like the songs are both taking a step even further than we took on the last album, while also going back to the sound of some of the earlier albums."

Hoppus remarked that the group does have a scheduled date for the completion of the album and hopes to have it available by spring of 2011. "That being said, the only thing more important to us than getting the record out in that time is getting a great record out. If it isn't absolutely ready at that point, we'll keep working until it is," said Hoppus.
