Cage the Elephant have announced that their sophomore album, Thank You, Happy Birthday, will be released on January 11.

The 13-song follow-up to their self-titled 2009 debut will be released by Jive Records. It features production from Tragedy/Tragedy Studios in Nashville by Jay Joyce. A seven inch vinyl single of the tracks "Shake Me Down" and "Aberdeen" will be released exclusively through Record Store Day's "Black Friday" event on November 26.

In a press release issued by the band, they noted that they wrote approximately "80 songs' worth of ideas" after they "locked themselves away in a remote Kentucky cabin, listened to and discovered old albums from The Pixies, Mudhoney and Butthole Surfers, and studied interviews with songwriting greats like Bob Dylan and John Lennon."

The Bowling Green, KY band's 2009 major-label debut has sold over 300,000 copies and led to three Top 5 alternative radio singles.

Cage The Elephant are the shot in the arm that mainstream radio has needed for several years. Shake Me Down is destined to be the crossover hit that puts this band on top of the rock charts once and for all.
