Trauma And Addiction

How can one begin to comprehend what is the link between addiction and trauma? Well, there are many studies that have been performed that reveal a correlation between drug abuse and alcoholism. However, addiction is the most common cause of trauma. This is not to say that alcoholics never become addicted to drugs or alcohol; it just goes to show that many people who suffer from both addictions at the same time are at higher risk for developing post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. In addition, PTSD is actually a form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), so that is why those that suffer from these two addictions at the same time may have a greater risk of developing this disorder. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental condition that is caused by exposure to a traumatic event. For example, if a person who works in a factory where they have been exposed to toxic chemicals were to return home one day, then this individual may be more likely to develop PTSD than someone who has never been exposed to toxic chemicals at all. There is still much research that is needed before it is possible to determine the relationship between addiction and trauma, but one thing is certain: anyone that suffers from addiction or alcohol abuse should take care of their health. They should always make sure that they eat right, that they get enough exercise, and that they get plenty of sleep. If they cannot do these things for themselves, then they will need help in order to overcome their addiction and PTSD. It is also important to try and avoid getting your medications mixed up. Remember, you can get yourself addicted to prescription medication if you take too many of them; so make sure that you consult a medical professional if you do any of the following: smoke cigarettes, use illegal drugs such as heroin, use steroids, abuse alcohol, or take other types of medications.
