In an announcement via the band's website, Virginia based My Favorite Highway announced the band is splitting up. A short string of farewell shows is planned for December in the band's hometown.
"Pat, Will and myself have been doing a little bit of soul searching this year and we all mutually agree that the My Favorite Highway chapter of our lives is coming to a close," the band's lead singer David Cook wrote on the band's official site. "This band has been the most important part of who we are for over half a decade, but we all feel that the time has come for us to move on."
Cook did not cite any exact reasons for the break up which comes just over a year after the band released their last album "How To Call A Bluff" on Virgin Records in the Summer of 2009.
"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has ever believed in us and supported My Favorite Highway," cook went on to say in the post. "A band is not the members performing on the stage, it’s a story, and everyone who has ever sung a line from one of our songs is a part of this story and is a part of this band. People come and go, stories last forever."
Besides farewell shows in Vienna, Virginia in December, Cook said the band also plans to release an acoustic album in the next year. As far as the band members plans, Cook appears to be leaving the door open for the band playing together again in some form.
"As for the three of us, we will continue to make music together and we are very excited for what the future holds. Thank you all for being a part of our story."
