For Alpha Rev front man Casey McPherson, his band’s upcoming new album New Morning is more than just a major label debut, it marks a complete turnaround and fresh start in McPherson’s life.

Prior to forming Alpha Rev, McPherson fronted the band Endochine, who gained a strong following throughout the southwest in the early 2000’s.  With the band’s success, McPherson also gave in to many of the temptations that come with playing in a successful rock band.
<BR>“I was coming off a lot of traumatic events in my life, and I was also living more of a rock and roll mentality,” McPherson told Alternative Addiction in a recent interview.  “I left a lot of self-destructiveness in my wake.”

Realizing the destructive path his life was headed down, McPherson decided the only way to straighten his life out was to put an end to his band and start anew.

“In a way, putting Endochine to rest, kind of put that lifestyle to rest for me,” explained McPherson.  “Alpha Rev became my second chance for how to live, and how to be an artist and be healthy.  That’s been a learning process, because as an artist your tendency isn’t necessarily to gravitate towards health.”

McPherson had picked the members of Alpha Rev over the next few years, and after an impressive label showcase for Hollywood Records, the band inked a deal.  In the winter of 2009 the band entered Avatar Studios in New York with producer David Kahne to work on their major label debut.

The resulting album, aptly titled New Morning, is one that captures the essence of where McPherson and the band have come from, drawing inspiration from the band’s previous struggles.

“[All of the songs on this album] are sort of in the same vibe of coming out of a difficult point,” explained McPherson.  “Letting a lot of past go…looking forward instead of backward.”

The band is slated to tour with Third Eye Blind in April, their debut album is due out April 27th.
