Their previous album Burn Burn may be less than a year old but lead singer Raine Maida said that Our Lady Peace plans on releasing another new album this year, in addition to another solo album that Maida has already begun work on.
“I think that is the plan, we are trying to definitely,” Maida told Alternative Addiction of his plans to release another OLP album in 2010. “We are going to continue to write, I have already been doing some stuff here in LA. I’ve been jonesin’ to make another solo record, and I am going to do that as well, so there is going to be a lot of music coming out this year.”
Maida said his upcoming solo album will take on a different sound than his predominately acoustic previous solo release.
“It’s still going to be very different from OLP, but it’s [also] going to be very electric this time,” Maida explained. “It’s just gotten a little bit bigger and maybe a little bit brighter from my last record.”
Maida and the band are gearing up for a unique Canadian tour the band has planned this spring. Kicking off in Montreal on March 7th, the band will play a string of 30 shows where the set lists consist entirely of music from their albums Clumsy or Spiritual Machines. Maida says he’s excited about the tour, but admits its unique format presents new challenges for the band.
“Usually whenever we go out and do a tour we learn whatever songs are new and we polish up the other ones and it’s pretty basic,” explained Maida. “With this, there’s songs off both records that we have never ever played, and lyrically it’s a lot of lyrics to dig into. We have our work cut out for us.”

It should be noted, that at each show, in addition to playing the cd, they'll also so a full setlist, meaning a two and a half to three hour show. =)) Posted by ken on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 3:33:29 PM
I don't understand why people dislike the gravity album so much. It is one of my favorites! I actually wish they played more from that album at their concerts. Posted by Cheryl on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:45:23 AM
Is the Halifax show an album only set list? I thought it was just a regular show? Posted by Nubbs on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 6:16:40 PM
Correction to this article ---> The Our Lady Peace tour kicks off in Halifax on March 7, not Montreal. Posted by Nathan on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 12:45:53 PM
If the short preview of music from their holiday greeting is any indication, the new stuff should be great. I know it is not much to go on but I was digging it. Nice to see that we won't have to wait another four or five years for another cd. Posted by anonymous on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 10:33:44 PM
