Can success be too much of a good thing?  According to Kings of Leon front man Caleb Followill it can be   In light of their four grammy nominations, Followill told Spin that "We definitely got bigger than we wanted to be, you feel like you’ve done something wrong. That woman in mom jeans who’d never let me date her daughter? She likes my music. That’s fucking not cool."

Kings of Leon grabbed four Grammy nominations for their song "Use Somebody" off their multi-platinum selling major label debut Only By The Night that was released in 2008.  The album has been so successful that the band has started refusing to promote the album.  Before Only by the Night, the group's first three albums had sold only about 200,000 copies each in the US, but Followill said he got his first inkling of "trouble" after Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder listened to the latest disc. "He said, ‘You’re about to ride a big wave.’ I don’t even think he liked the record. But he knew immediately we were about to go through something big."

I'm with you PJSYCO, their first 2 albums were raw and basic. They just need to get back to their roots and bring back that raw and rough, smoke 4 packs a day rock 'n roll.

YO these dudes need to step back and be greatful for what they have. There are a ton of small bands that would love to get to the big time like they did. If they don't like it they souuld just quit making music then.

B-man, are you crazy? Their older stuff is crap? Their older stuff kicks major ass. The last two albums are glossy crap. They need to ditch this new pop sound and get back to what makes them great, straight out, balls to the wall rock-n-roll.

So what if they're too popular. The music speaks for itself and the new CD rocks. To be honest, their older stuff is crap. They're popular for good reason, the new disc is brilliant. If they change their formula, they're done.

love their stuff, but when the drunk girls in my dorm made a singalong of use somebody it made want to gag. If they go in a new direction and dump all the bandwagon fans they might be able to avoid that John Mayor douche route
