Saving Abel has enough new material that, according to drummer Blake Dixon, the Mississippi band could "put out a new album today if we wanted to."

Instead, the band is taking its time, testing the material on the road first with plans to release the follow up to their self-titled debut sometime in 2010.

"Basically right now we've got the album pretty much finished, and I think if we put it out right now people would love it," Dixon told Billboard.com. "But we want to make sure we're completely ecstatic with it."

At the moment, the band is playing out new songs "Hell of a Ride," "Bloody Sunday" and "Tap Out," seeing what the fans think of them.

The band plans to return to the studio in January with the intention of adding a few more tracks. "Hopefully [we] come up with just a few more tunes that are over the top."
