Promethazine Addiction

There are a lot of myths surrounding what is promethazine addiction, one of the biggest being that it is caused when you take too many pills. Although there may be some truth to this, the exact cause of promethazine addiction isn’t yet known, and while it is often found in people who use the drug to relieve symptoms of a physical illness, or who are taking prescription pain medication for an ongoing medical condition, there is no clear evidence that promethazine is directly related to these kinds of illnesses. However, promethazine does act on the nervous system in a very similar way as some benzodiazepines do, and it’s not surprising that those with certain neurological problems, such as schizophrenia or Alzheimer’s, may have a more difficult time getting rid of their symptoms, as benzodiazepines do. There may also be more psychological causes for promethazine addiction, since those with depression, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorders may also have trouble controlling their symptoms, and may resort to promethazine because it provides them with some relief from their symptoms. What is promethazine addiction, then, is simply the fact that someone has a problem with taking a drug, whether prescribed or not. For some, promethazine can provide some relief from symptoms, but in others, it causes more severe conditions, such as sleeplessness and hallucinations. There are also cases where promethazine addiction is caused by a patient being given the drug without the proper medical supervision, so that they may try to self-medicate with the drug, which can lead to complications if not dealt with in a timely manner. If you are concerned that you or someone you know may have promethazine addiction, then you should definitely talk to your doctor about it. This is a condition that can be treated, especially if it is caught early enough. Once you have been given a diagnosis of promethazine addiction, you will likely be offered treatment options, including psychotherapy and counseling.
