After a near six year hiatus, Howie Day will return with a brand new album entitled Sound The Alarm on August 25.  In order to tide fans over until the late summer release, Day has released a three song EP on iTunes, entitled Be There.

"These three songs represent a great cross section of the entire album that comes out later in the summer, and I wanted to give fans a little bit of each facet of the record," Day said according to AOL.com.  "From the stripped down acoustic track that we recorded in my home studio ('40 Hours'), to the more driving rock track ('Be There') and 'Counting on Me' which is the moodier rock track. I wanted to try and have a little of everything."

The first single from the album, and the title track from EP, Be There, is slated to hit radio in the coming weeks.  You can preview the track below:

Day is best known for his hit single "Collide" which he co-wrote with Better Than Ezra lead singer Kevin Griffin.  The duo have reportedly worked together again on a number of tracks for the new album.

Day is expected to tour extensively this summer leading up to the release of his album later this summer.  More information and tour dates to follow.
