The band Starsailor is back on the road to promote their second album which is due out next month. Silence is Easy, the follow up to their million selling debut album, Love is here, is due to be released on September 15 following which the northern group start their UK tour.
Band drummer Ben Byrne says the new record reaffirms their place in the world after the initial media frenzy that ensued when they came to the music industrys notice in 2000. They were the first ever band to be offered a place on the prestigious NME Brats tour before releasing a single and received an NME award the week they released their debut single "Fever".
Their third single, "Alcoholic," is probably one of Starsailors most dramatic and memorable records, with hard-hitting lyrics about the emotional effects of addiction. Now their new album comes at a time when the band are happy with both their personal and professional lives.Vocalist James Walsh, 21, has a two-year-old daughter called Niamh while bassist James Stelfox, 27, and keyboard player Barry Westhead, 26, are both in stable relationships.
The band concludes Silence is Easy has the sound of a band that has found its own feet with the members comfortable in their own skin.
