Dishwalla front man JR Richards is hard at work on his upcoming new album “'The Ghost of Sorrow” and in a recent interview with Ian Ebright, Richards revealed new information on his highly anticipated solo debut.
Richards explained that the album is in its final stages, and is being prepared to be mixed soon.
“Musically and lyrically things have always taken on their own shape. The big difference with this record is its all me. I'm not sharing the chores with anyone else,” Richards explained.
As for a release date for the album, Richards says he’s targeting a May release, but will release some tracks digitally before the album drops. Of the 12 or 13 tracks expected to be on the album, Richards says he’s most excited about a song called “A Beautiful End.”
“It's one of those songs that really hits me deep still when I hear it. I'm hoping it will connect with people in the same way.”
Also expected to be on the album is a ballad called “You're the Only Way Home.”
“I haven't written too many love songs in the past...but I'm a closet romantic so I'm not surprised to see one find its way onto this record,” explains Richards. Still it’s not a love song in the traditional sense...when I sing it, there's just too much desperation in my voice.”
