Year one takes
Michael Cera and Jack Black as two
lowly cavemen/tribes people and
turns them into chosen ones. Chosen
for what? Well, they don't know and
we don't either but they're still
chosen to do something great.
Black and Cera
are the outsiders in their tribe.
One is the only male gatherer, and
the other is the world's worst
hunter.
After
one too many blunders they get
booted out of the tribe and the
adventure begins. They go through
the desert and meet Abraham and the
Jews, they get sold into slavery by
Kane after he brutally murders his
brother Abel. They go into Sodom and
witness... well what Sodom was known
for at those times.
Black and Cera
have decent enough chemistry.
They're both easy to laugh at when
they're in their own elements. Black
is of course comfortable being goofy
and loud. Cera takes the more
casual/I'm really uncomfortable
doing what I'm doing path to comedy.
Together they feed off each other
just enough to make Year One a
success on screen.
The Blu-Ray
edition of Year One is the way to
go. Lots of bonus features. LOTS of
bonus features including some making
of stuff, deleted scenes, gag reel,
commentary, an alternate ending, a
couple of goofy commercials, and
some special features incorporated
with BD Live. Including the ability
to make your own video clips.
If you like
dumb comedies- Year One is something
you'll want to check into. I mean
that in the nicest possible way.
If you
can appreciate some good poop jokes,
lots of sex jokes, and cave women-
you're in for a treat with Year One.
