The Water Boy
on Blu-Ray is a little
disappointing. The transfers and the
sound make the movie look better
than ever but the bonus features and
even the menu work are
disappointing.
The movie
itself is a classic. Adam Sandler
was at his peak during this stage of
his career and Bobby Boucher was a
hilarious character. This movie had
a rewatchability factor of 10 still
when it’s on cable and watching it
on Blu-Ray over and over when you
want to watch a movie isn’t a bad
choice at all.
The picture on
this Blu-Ray is outstanding. The
lenses that they used to film this
movie have always been something
I’ve admired. Everything was bright
and vibrant more than any football
movie I’ve ever seen- this movie
still looks the best. On Blu-Ray it
looks better. The sound is also
outstanding offering up 5.1 DTS-HD
for you to listen and watch in
hi-def glory.
What’s
disappointing about this particular
Blu-Ray are the lack of bonus
features… uhhhh…. There aren’t any.
The original DVD didn’t really come
with any either but one would have
hoped for a repackaging with some
interviews and stuff. Or at least a
new commentary. The bonus features
are non extent on this disc and that
sucks.
If you’re a
huge Adam Sandler fan The Water Boy
is one of your favorite films. It
was probably one of his peak movies
after he had so much success with
Happy Gilmore and Billy Madision. It
was a hilarious football movie that
looked good and can still be watched
over and over. The lack of bonus
features on this disc is
disappointing, but the movie itself
is worth looking into. Especially if
this is in a
bargain rack of some kind.
