I live in Wyoming.
We've had one main
carrier in the state
over the past ten
years and that's
Verizon. We get the
good and bad with
only having one
carrier. In calling
was free that was a
bonus and for how
spotty this state is
with phone coverage,
Verizon is actually
pretty good. The
main drawback to
having Verizon
though was being
unable to get
service on an iPhone.
Living here is fine,
but it definitely
has its downsides
and not being able
to enjoy the world
smartest of smart
phones and one of
the most innovate
devices ever... well
it was just a
bummer. That's been
rectified and we
suffer no more with
Verizon finally
being able to
distribute the
iPhone and Apple
making the new phone
for the different
network. You're
still unable to get
an iPhone 3G on the
Verizon network, but
the Verizon iPhone
is an iPhone 4G and
upon first glance,
really there's not a
big difference with
what it is.
If you're unfamiliar
with the iPhone 4G
well then here's the
scoop- you’ve got
the most responsive
touch screen on the
market. Other people
have tried and
failed to make
better touch screens
than this. i don't
know whether it's
just me as a
preference after
spending years on an
iPod Touch or what
but there's really
not a touch screen
that works better.
You're also getting
two cameras a
high-res five
megapixel camera on
the back of the
phone for shooting
videos and photos.
Then you're also
getting a camera on
the front of the
time for the video
chat app Facetime.
The perk of Facetime
is being able to
chat face to face
with anybody else
that has an iPhone.
The small downside
of that is that you
can't do it with a
3G or 4G connection;
you can only do it
with Wi-Fi. It's a
bit of a bummer that
you can't do it
across cell service,
but the Facetime's
app ability with
Wi-Fi can't be
downplayed.
So you've got a
great touch screen,
two cameras, and
Facetime. Why else
do you need an
iPhone? ITunes and
an iPod of course!
With the iPhone you
can access iTunes-
the world's number 1
music store. The
others music
distributors don't
compare to iTunes-
and the ability to
download it directly
on your phone and
then easily transfer
it to your computer
when you sync your
phone simply one of
the coolest things
ever. You've also
got a fantastic iPod
with your iPhone
that has an amazing
retina display for
watching movies and
TV Shows that you
can download on
iTunes or you can
listen to your music
that you sync
directly onto your
phone or that you
buy on iTunes.
The iPod is the key
selling point for
the iPhone, but now
it shares the title
with the App Store.
Being able to
download thousands
of apps for
thousands of
purposes, everything
from reference to
multi-media is
amazing. Game
developers have
taken the time to
develop some quality
software that stuff
we've talked about
on the App of the
week over and over.
There are game apps,
there are news apps,
there are reference
apps, there are joke
apps, if you can
think of something
practical and
sometimes
impractical to do
with a smart phone,
more than likely
there's an App for
that.
Those are just the
highlights of what's
good about an iPhone.
As for the Verizon
iPhone. The phone
has data speeds that
are faster than what
we've seen on some
other devices on
other networks. So
that's a clear perk.
The Verizon iPhone
isn't better or
worse than the AT&T
iPhone, you can make
a pitch that the
network is better
but you can make
pitches for AT&T's
advantages too.
Still, after years
of waiting Verizon
people can finally
get their hands on
an iPhone.
