"Up" continues the
tradition of creative success for
Pixar with their 10th animated film.
The movie follows Carl Frederickson,
an elderly man on the his way for
adventure. Carl's method of
transportation; his floating house
that gets airborne by thousands of
balloons. Carl is joined on his trip
by Russell, a wilderness scout who
wasn't supposed to make the journey.
The two travel to South America
making many friends and foes along
the way and they form a bond that
they both deeply needed.
Pixar continues to
score points for moving in new
directions. By following an elderly
man and embracing the heartache and
the vitality that can come with age
they connect with a larger audience
and form a deeper connection to that
audience. It's very rare that a
child can connect with his
grandparents with a film, this movie
allows them to do that on a few
different levels.
The Blu-Ray
packaging of this film is wonderful.
Not just because you get a Blu-Ray
copy, a DVD copy, and a digital
copy, but because of all of the
bonus content and documentaries that
you get. On the first disc you get
the "Partly Cloudy" short, one of
the better Pixar shorts and you also
get several making of documentaries
some that chronicle the animators
traveling to some huge flat
mountains in South Africa. Really
cool stuff.
You get
lots of bonus content on the first
Blu-Ray disc and the second disc has
the games and some more documentary
stuff. Lots of bonus content is
provided in this set.
A tremendous film
that covers ground that doesn't get
covered in animated films, "Up" is
another great film for Disney and
Pixar. You have to wonder when
they'll run out of ideas. This film
is worth purchasing and worth
purchasing on Blu-Ray due to great
sights, great sound, and a slew of
bonus features. A great family film
that can be enjoyed by ages eight to
eighty.
