Toy
Story 3
comes to a big
combo-pack Blu-ray
release from Disney,
and it’s not a
disappointment. It’s
what you would
expect from one of
Disney and Pixar’s
most treasured
releases- there’s
lots of attention to
detail with bonus
features, the
main-feature is
fantastic, and the
quality is superior.
Really, all the way
around this is a Blu-ray
that your family has
to have.
While
watching the first
two
Toy
Story
movies, the kids get
immersed with what’s
going on. But for
older kids and
grown-ups, get
question afterwards-
‘What happens when
Andy grows up?’ The
second movie seemed
to set that story
up, and so here’s
Toy
Story 3,
10 years after Toy
Story 2, with Andy
all grown-up. He’s
heading to college
and the few toys
that he’s held on to
over the years (his
special ones) are
stored in an old toy
box in his room.
Sure, they’re older
and feeling
neglected now, but
they also just want
to be there for Andy
when he needs them.
Somehow, when Andy’s
things are getting
shuffled around, the
toys end up
donations to
Sunnyside Daycare.
Sunnyside seems like
an awesome place at
first. It seems like
the toys have found
a new home with
relatively no
downside, but things
are rarely what they
seem and daycare has
its downside. The
toys have to band
together and escape
the perils of
daycare and return
home to Andy where
they belong… even if
they’ll have to wait
a few years before
they’re played with
again.
Just
like the majority of
the other Pixar
movies,
Toy
Story 3
is fantastic. It can
bring on emotions
that a normal movie
wouldn’t be able to
induce and they
provide several
laughs and quirks
along the way. The
movie is brilliant
in a 360 degree
fashion, which is
rare for even the
best movies. The
story is stellar,
the animation is
superior, Tom Hanks
and Tim Allen are
still wonderful as
Woody and Buzz and
even the score and
the soundtrack is
perfect. You can’t
find anything wrong
with the movie. You
can look for a
more-rounded and
better family film
to be made over the
last ten years, and
you won’t find one.
Basically,
Toy
Story 3
is perfect- just
like the previous
two movies. It
stands on its own
and demands to be
watched.
The
releases that Disney
puts out on Blu-ray
are never
disappointing. Even
the last
Toy
Story
rereleases that came
out about the time
that
Toy
Story 3
was being released
theatrically were
fantastic with a Blu-Ray
disc being devoted
to additional
material. Toy Story
3 gets a similar
treatment with tons
of bonus material
including a
commentary, tons of
behind-the-scenes
looks, a
continuation of Buzz
Lightyear’s
Adventures in Space,
and of course- the
short
Night
and Day.
The bonus materials
are worthy of the
feature and the
feature is worthy of
the bonus material.
There are hours of
entertainment to be
added to a great
feature.
Toy
Story 3
was what you would
expect. There were
high expectations
for the movie before
it was released and
those expectations
were met and
surpassed. There
were heartfelt
moments that you
couldn’t get in any
other movie and
there was a general
experience that felt
like a fitting end
to a wonderful
story. Packaged with
this huge 4-disc
release,
Toy
Story 3
should be under the
tree if it’s not on
the shelf already.
