It
seems like all of
the consoles have
their ‘you have to
buy this’ sports
game. For PS3, it
would have to be
MLB:
The Show.
For Xbox 360 it
would be
Madden,
only because of it’s
compatibility with
Xbox LIVE on top of
everything else
Madden does. For the
Wii, it’s definitely
got to be
Tiger
Woods PGA Tour.
With the Wii remote
and with a team of
crack developers
we’ve been treated
to an outstanding
golfing experience
over the past five
years and one that
has gotten better
every year. The
reason why the game
is the key sports
game to the Wii is
pretty obvious… it’s
the Wii Remote and
the Wii Motion Plus
addition to the
remote that makes
the game an
immersive golfing
experience and the
reason that if
you’re playing this
game on any console
other than Wii, you
might be missing
out.
Last year’s edition
of the game was
amazing. The
development had
seemingly pulled out
all of the stops to
make a game with
both an arcade feel
and a simulation
feel and delivered
with one of the best
golfing games ever.
Not only did the
team live up to last
year’s standard,
they’ve expanded on
it considerably.
In the realism
factor the biggest
edition is the 1 to
1 camera view. The
camera is a
first-person camera
that is strictly a
first-person camera.
You look down at the
ball and out at the
course (even after
you fire your ball)
like you were out on
the course. It’s a
welcome addition to
the game and
although it makes
after the shot
mechanics difficult,
one can assume that
if you’re trying to
have a sim golf
experience, you’re
not going to shake
the club for ten
seconds after you
hit the ball. On top
of the 1 to 1 camera
view the normal game
modes that make
Tiger so much fun
are in here too.
There are the mini
games that are
amazing including
disc golf, (online
too!), target
practice, and mini
golf! The mini golf
mode is only for
local players on the
console and not
online, but it’s a
welcome addition to
the game.
The graphics on the
Wii aren’t as good
as they are on the
other consoles.
That’s really the
only area that Wii
fans miss out on.
Still, with the Wii
remote and the
ability to ‘swing’ a
club instead of push
an analog stick,
it’s a compromise
you have to make.
Tiger
Woods PGA Tour 11’s
addition of the
Ryder Cup, the 1 to
1 camera, mini golf,
and online disc
golf, make it a
tremendous addition
to any Wii
collection and the
best Tiger yet.
