Arnold
Schwarzenegger has
seen better days.
Among them, creating
and promoting
The
Terminator.
The
film was marveled at
the time as a great
action film and has
been remembered and
enjoyed fondly over
the years as a
dazzling film too.
It launched
Schwarzenegger into
a huge action star
and it was the first
of many
critically-acclaimed
movies from James
Cameron. It’s
already been
released on Blu-ray,
but it’s being
rereleased yet again
with some decent
(albeit old) special
features and a brand
new packaging
option.
In the crazy
‘modern’ world of
the 80’s it’s hard
to think too far
into the future for
Sarah Connor (Linda
Hamilton), but
that’s what she gets
thrown into when all
of a sudden a crazy,
unstoppable, cyborg
is out to kill her.
The cyborg wants to
kill Sarah Connor to
keep her from having
a child that will
lead the future
resistance to a
world of robot
terror. Enter our
hero, also from the
future, Kyle Reese
(Michael Biehn.) He
protects her from
the cyborg and keeps
Sarah Conner alive
so the future has
help.
This Blu-ray picture
is a decent upgrade
over previous
releases. It’s not a
total retransfer but
it’s an HD
presentation and a
worthwhile one.
There are a few
noticeable blips and
smudges but nothing
significant and the
picture and audio
ends up being an
upgrade over the DVD
version.
With
extras, there’s
nothing new here but
there’s still a
decent amount of
rehashed content.
Included is a
feature with
Schwarzenegger and
Cameron talking
about making the
movie. There’s also
deleted scenes and a
piece on the music
and special effects
in the movie. As
noted before,
there’s not anything
new but there are
enough extras that
make it serviceable.
The packaging with
this Blu-ray release
of
The
Terminator
is its biggest
asset. There’s a
great 24 page
booklet that the Blu-ray
is packaged in it.
It’s a great
keepsake for any
diehard fan.
The
Terminator
was a great release,
it was directed
inventively and
originally by James
Cameron and Arnold
Schwarzenegger was
terrifying… I
wouldn’t want that
dude chasing after
me in a leather coat
and 80’s sunglasses…
The point is, it’s a
great movie and this
is a good Blu-ray
option to add to
your collection if
you don’t already
have this on the
shelf.
