WWE Entertainment’s latest
collaboration with Fox that’s come
to Blu-Ray is
Marine 2
starring Ted DiBiase. Not
surprisingly, the film was written
well, acted poorly, and has a few
rough spots in the final product. A
lot like the WWE. It’s also very
entertaining and captivating… a lot
like the WWE can be.
You can compare this movie straight
across with
12 Rounds
starring John Cena for the shared
WWE credit line. Yes it would make
more sense to do this with the first
Marine,
but we're going with
12 Rounds
anyway.
Marine 2
had the better script but
12 Rounds
had Cena who was a better lead
actor.
Marine 2
had the better supporting cast while
12 Rounds
had the better action sequences.
There ya go.
Ted DiBiase isn’t
terrible, but at some points in the
movie he is. It’s a good movie debut
for him and he’s got the chops and
the stunt skills to make more, he
just struggles in places here. A
supporting cast does make up for it
though, Lorna Cox is surprisingly
good as DiBiase's wife. The villains
are serviceable and you can even add
that to some of the smaller roles as
well.
The only bad part
about the movie is the abrupt
ending. The whole movie has a very
Die Hard tone to it, but nothing is
expanded at the end of the movie.
Action done… end credits. That’s all
there is to it.
Marine 2
could have been better but it’s
something that is what it is. It’ll
be liked by a lot of people who
liked the first movie and it will be
loved by WWE fans who are fans of
DiBiase. It’s not overly set-up with
key plot points. It’s mindless
action and that’s not always a bad
thing. It could have been better but
it could have been a lot worse too.
