The
Glades,
A&E’s highest rated
original series ever
has seen the first
season of the show
get released on DVD.
The show is smart
and fun with
interesting
characters and some
great humor
incorporated through
some fascinating
mysteries.
In the Glades, Matt
Passmore stars as
Jim Longworth. He’s
a cop that doesn’t
really want to be a
cop anymore. After
being falsely
accused of sleeping
with his captain’s
wife and getting
shot in the butt, he
gets a big
settlement and moves
to a sleepy Florida
town. For a source
of income on top of
his settlement
money, Jim joins the
police force. He’s
accompanied by the
town’s medical
examiner Carlos
Sanchez (Carlos
Gomez), Carlos’
quirky intern Daniel
Green (Jordan Wall),
nurse soon to be
doctor Callie
Cargill (Kiele
Sanchez) and her son
Jeff (Uriah Shelton)
The best thing about
the show is the
characters. Jim
Longworth is a very
cool main character.
He’s smart and funny
and he’s the perfect
smartass that
everyone loves to
like. All the
support characters
are great and their
interactions with
Jim are fun to
watch. It’s rare for
you to enjoy
watching a mystery
show for the
characters instead
of the mysteries,
but that’s what’s
happening here.
Speaking of the
mystery, that’s the
biggest glaring
problem with the
show. The characters
are great and it’s a
fun show. But some
of the show plot
lines are impossible
for the viewer to
play the whodunit
game with because
the crook was on the
screen for 8 seconds
before we discover
that he/she did it.
Part of the fun with
a mystery show is
trying to figure out
who did it.
Scooby Doo
has been working it
for like 40 years
now, is there really
a reason that
The
Glades
can’t?
Extra content on
this 4-disc DVD set
includes deleted
scenes, select
episode commentary,
and some fun cast
and creator
featurettes. As far
as extra content
goes this is the
perfect quality and
quantity for a
casual show like
this.
The
Glades: The Complete
First Season
is worth picking up
on if you’re a fan
of the show or just
a fan of mystery
shows like this in
the first place. I
don’t know if I’d
dish out $40 for
this many episodes
right after its
release but maybe in
a few months check
this out for a cool
show to get into.
