I
have to admit, I
wasn’t super-excited
to see
The
A-Team…
I was between
opinions whether it
looked too over the
top or too below the
standard for action
flicks. Basically, I
didn’t think that
the source material
would make a good
action movie. I was
wrong… not only was
The
A-Team
a great action
flick, it was just a
great movie.
The
A-Team
takes updated
versions of Face,
Hannibal, Barracus,
and Murdock and puts
them into the 21st
Century with updated
humor and special
effects. When
Mexican drug lords
manage to get their
hands on printing
plates for U.S.
money, it’s a big
crisis for our
government. So
Hannibal comes up
with a genius plan
to get the money
back using his Alpha
Team. They do just
that, do a great job
and get the money
back… only it’s
lifted from their
possession right
away, the mission
becomes
unsanctioned, and
they’re all framed
for something they
didn’t do and they
all go to jail. Of
course they break
out of jail, and
then they get the
team back together
to find out who set
them up and to find
a way to clear their
names.
Casting on this film
was great. Sharlto
Copley was hilarious
as Murdock and he
really steals the
show. He got to do
some great lines
throughout the movie
and he played crazy
just about as well
as anybody could
play funny/crazy.
Bradley Cooper was
good as Face. His
interactions/relationship
with Jessica Biel
were great… they had
some good on screen
chemistry and he
also had some funny
parts. Barracus was
played by Quinton
Jackson and I was a
little skeptical on
his choosing for the
part when I heard
about the movie. But
he was great, he was
funny, he was tough,
and he got
everything that you
could have wanted
out of the role.
Plus… his screw-ups
in the gag reel
border along
classic. Liam Neeson
was casted as
Hannibal, and
although he’s
British and sounds
British, which is
somewhat weird for
the first ten
seconds, it’s not a
distraction after
that. The cast was
the best part of
The
A-Team,
it made up for a
story that might not
have been the
easiest to follow
for most. The actors
all did great and
that bundled with
some cool
plans/concepts that
they pulled off from
the script on the
screen make this
movie worth seeing.
The
downsides of
The
A-Team
might be our villain
in the story.
Patrick Wilson is a
CIA Agent named
Lynch and he’s a bit
of a rogue agent. He
answers to nobody
that we see, he does
what he wants and
he’s evil with a
sense of humor.
While Wislon did a
good job as the
villain… the
character wasn’t
thought up as good
as it could be.
Basically he wasn’t
evil enough… it
doesn’t spoil the
movie, but it does
spoil some scenes
here and there.
The
A-Team
on Blu-ray comes
with digital copy.
That’s an instant
plus, there’s also a
couple of making-of
features and
hilarious gag reel.
As far as special
features… not great
on this outing, but
the movie is
exciting enough that
it makes up for it.
Maybe
it was because I
didn’t have high
expectations going
in, but
The
A-Team
won me over. The
cast was great, the
movie was fun,
funny, exciting and
all-around just
something cool to
watch that I
wouldn’t mind
watching five more
times. Really
where’s the downside
to that?
