10 Things I Hate
About You
makes its way to Blu-Ray for its
10th Anniversary with a good
transfer and a new bonus feature.
The movie itself is a teenage
classic. Heath Ledger’s first real
lead role was a good one and he was
opposite of a young and talented
Julia Stiles. Filled out by great,
young actors- Joseph Gordon-Levitt,
Larisa Oleynik, and David Krumholtz.
The movie had a great script with
good dialogue and it was one of the
best teenage/romance films of all
time. As far as coming of age movies
go,
10 Things I Hate
About You
was to the last decade what
The Breakfast Club
was to the 80’s.
Writers Karen
McCullah Lutz and Kirstin Smith took
an original, funny, and intelligent
script to director Gil junger, and
the pairing worked perfectly. Toss
that in with some good actors and
one of the 00’s classic movies was
born.
The Blu-Ray
transfer of the movie is good. It
definitely looks better than the
standard definition version of the
film and it looks just as good as it
did in theatres. An excellent audio
mix is upgraded here too, not an
amazing transfer, but a serviceable
one.
As for the bonus
features, there’s one key feature
looking back at the creation of the
film. Junger, McCullah Lutz, and
Smith share stories of cast and crew
and reminisce about making the
movie. Some good screen test footage
from Heath Ledger and stories from
the actors with interviews from the
original promotion of the movie are
inserted in to the feature as well.
It’s a great new bonus feature to
add to this release.
If you don’t have this on DVD it’s a
wise purchase on Blu-Ray. The
packaging looks better and the movie
looks better on Blu-Ray too.
10 Things I Hate
About You
was one of the first classic movies
of the past decade and now you can
enjoy it on Blu-Ray.
