After
Back to the Future,
Michael J. Fox was
on a roll. Not the
entire series, but
just after part one.
He moved on from
there to star in
what would turn into
another 80's classic
Teen Wolf.
The movie is classic
for a reason. It's
hilarious. It's got
a great actor in the
lead role, and
everything with the
movie just lined up
well to make
something special.
Everyone has seen
Teen Wolf,
either on cable or
just because. Scott
Howard is an average
teenager. And that's
his problem. He's
average. He's not a
fan of it. He's
tired of being
average. He wants to
be someone special.
There's a reason why
they say be careful
what you wish for.
Scott, as it turns
out comes from a
line of werewolves.
And he soon goes
through werewolf
puberty. You'd think
that everyone would
be scared of him and
see him as a threat,
but instead-
everyone wants a
part of the werewolf
and sees him as a
party animal. Soon
Scott realizes that
is friends who were
his friends
all-along were the
people that he
needed to feel
special to. Not
everyone else.
What's great with
Teen Wolf?
It begins with
Michael J. Fox. I'm
not sure how he was
viewed in the 80's,
I wasn't big enough
to know back then.
But years later,
after looking at his
body of work, he's
not just the guy
from
Back to the Future.
He's an icon and the
most likely actor
ever.
The other thing
that’s right with
Teen Wolf is
the basketball
scene. The
basketball scenes
are so completely
unrealistic that
they're fun to
watch. It's like
they made the movie
without seeing more
than two basketball
games their entire
life. That includes
director Rob Daniel
and everyone in
those scenes. Don't
get me wrong I love
everything about the
basketball scenes in
Teen Wolf.
If they made them
more realistic this
wouldn't be the same
movie. They're so
unbelievably
over-the-top that
they're awesome and
they embody the
spirit of the movie.
This blu-ray release
isn't amazing but
it's decent. The
audio and the video
quality are both
great and better to
watch on blu-ray
than on DVD. The
biggest problem,
there are virtually
no extras here.
There's an old
trailer for the
theatrical release
and then a preview
of the
Teen Wolf MTV
series, that just
looks awful. There
isn't even a custom
menu system. The
feature is great.
Everything
surrounding it here
is less than
perfect.
Teen Wolf
is a classic movie
from the 80s.
Back to the Future
is what Michael J.
Fox will be most
known for,
Teen Wolf
might end up what
he's most liked for.
It's too bad that
they didn't give
this release more
extras, but it's
still great that
it's out on blu-ray.
