“Rome” is another
impressive HBO original series. This
series chronicles the empire’s
history from Caesar and beyond like
no other series or movie has or like
any other series or movie ever will.
It’s historically accurate based on
what’s been gathered about that time
period. It’s amazingly well done in
terms of production budget, and the
original characters. The characters
that it follows the closest- Lucius
Vorenus and Titus Pullo are dynamic
characters that you not only love to
root for; you love to learn more
about them and see them grow. As a
series Rome is impressive, only HBO
could pull off something like this
and air something like this. It fits
the spirit of Rome and captures the
essence of it perfectly. It’s even a
little raunchy… which let’s face it,
so was Rome. This definitely isn’t
for the young kids to teach them
about Rome. Just like it’s not TV,
it’s HBO- if it doesn’t have wiener,
it’s not HBO… there’s a reason why
this gets a TV-MA- it’s because they
absolutely held nothing back in
making the series. The Blu-Ray
packaging of the series is striking.
Two seasons, one
series, on ten discs in a beautiful
book-type packaging is awesome to
look at. The menu’s and the bonus
features are equally impressive.
Rome is a must if you love
historical dramas, and a must if you
love HBO original content. It’s not
for the weak eyes, but neither was
Rome.
