The west has been
made into hundreds
of movies, but
there's never been a
video game made
properly about one
of the craziest
periods in our
history. Rockstar
Games developed and
published
Red Dead Redemption
and they didn't just
make an amazing
video game based on
the wild west. They
made a more
entertaining piece
of media than any
wild west movie
that's been released
since
Young Guns.
In a lot of ways
this
is Grand Theft Auto
in a Wild West
setting. You explore
a vast area on the
U.S./Mexico border
while riding
horseback in an open
world game.
Everything you do-
good choices and bad
choices affects
everything else. You
can do almost
anything you want in
the game and that
creates a little bit
of controversy but
it's not nearly as
risqué as the GTA
series. It's a
great system for
making games and it
makes
Red Dead Redemption
one of the most
complete games made
to date.
The story isn't set
up in the most
amazing way- you're
just kind of thrown
into things, but
you're John Marsten.
An outlaw turned
civil man. John gets
forced by the
government to deal
with his old gang or
he loses the life
that he's made for
himself as a family
man. He finds that
the task isn't going
to be as easy as he
wants it to and
after he gets put on
his ass the first
time he tries to
accomplish his task,
he has to spend some
more time around the
area exploring and
developing a plan.
That's what
Red Dead Redemption
is about in a
nutshell...
exploring and
performing tasks
until you extend the
story long enough to
finish the game.
Visually this is one
of the better games
that you're going to
see. An incredible
amount of attention
to detail was taken
by the designers ad
you can see it
everywhere. The
landscape looks
amazing, the
characters all look
great, and even the
textures on the
buildings were
designed well. When
a game looks this
good it doesn't take
much audio work to
make it an immersive
experience. When the
audio work is
exceptional it makes
the game an amazing
experience. The
audio work
on Red Dead
Redemption
is outstanding
with great voice
acting done for all
of the characters,
great sound effects,
and an awesome
soundtrack.
Red Dead Redemption
is an open world
game that lets you
explore the Wild
West like you've
never been able to
do. it looks and
sounds great and all
of the in-game
action is stellar.
You can do tons of
things in the game
from bounty hunting,
playing poker,
shooting challenges,
treasure hunting,
herding cattle, and
breaking horses. The
gun system is a
little simple when
auto-aim is in
place, and you won't
die that many times
while playing the
game, but you'll be
riding around the
Wild West for months
exploring the towns
and ranches in the
video game. There
are tons of
multiplayer options
available too
including the
Rockstar lounge and
some coop missions
coming soon. If
you're looking for a
game to pick up and
play for the idle
hours of summer this
would be it. It's an
outstanding gaming
experience that's as
complete of a game
as you will see.
