When you’re working
the field and you’re
caught outside in
the rain it’s not
great. It’s pretty
much the opposite of
great, it’s a giant
pain. Festivals also
have been known to
be magnet
attractions for
rainfall and when
covering some
sporting events it
rains too. Problem
is that you have to
use your phone
during these things
and it’s not always
easy to find shelter
that works or
someone that will
hold an umbrella for
you while you have
one had with your
headset and one hand
plugging your ear
because it’s hard to
hear said headset.
Weather and
electronics don’t
agree most of the
time, we can say
that for certain,
that’s why Pelican’s
i1015 is a great
thing for anybody to
have in their
utility bag for
business and
recreation.
The Pelican i1015
Case is a water
resistant case, not
waterproof- that
means don’t go
swimming with this
bad boy but feel
free to sit in the
rain. The case is as
sturdy of a case
that you’re able to
find for any device.
It’s thick, black
base and it’s
insulated inside
makes it perfect for
conditions that
aren’t and it’s
clear top makes it
so you’re able to
look inside and see
what’s going on with
your device. The
black plastic and
the clear plastic
are joined together
with some heavy duty
clips that make a
tight seal. The
Pelican i1015 Case
is great because
it’s weather and
water resistant.
That’s crucial for
outdoorsmen, but
it’s also heavy duty
with some great
impact prevention.
If you drop it, it
won’t pop open.
As far as how you
install your device,
that's easy. You
flip it open and put
your phone/device in
the case and you
plug it in with the
1/8" connector. From
there you can use
the headphones to
listen to music or
for iPhone users you
can use the earbuds/remote/mic
system to operate.
It works great with
an iPhone 4, other
devices I haven't
tested. You have to
have a mic input
system to operate
something while it's
in the pelican case
otherwise you have
to start something
and then close it.
It sounds like a
pain, but it's
really not that big
of an inconvenience.
The Pelican Case is
great for what it
does but it is
slightly bulky. I
haven’t decided if
that’s a good or a
bad thing. It’s easy
to fit in a pair of
cargo shorts or a
heavy coat pocket
but it’s next to
impossible to put in
a pocket in a pair
of jeans. It’s not
something you can
carry casually it’s
something that
you’re going to pack
when you’re making
precautions for
something else.
The Pelican i1015
Case is sturdy and
built for action
with business and
recreation in mind.
It’s perfect for the
outdoorsman (it
comes with a
carabiner so you can
attach it to a
harness and belt
too) and it’s great
for use with your
iPhone or iPod
Touch. This is
something to look
into if you love
music and the
outdoor life. I’ll
say that.
