I’ve been a fan of hockey games. Mostly EA’s but hockey games in general. That’s why I’m stoked for the fall and stoked to see what comes out next. 2K’s NHL2K10 is game that didn’t disappoint me- some great graphics, some major presentation points, and some good gameplay make this a great game for fans casual and hardcore.

A major focus has been placed on the presentation of the game this year. The textures and effects in the game are better, the commentary, the video intros, even the menu-system on this game are top notch. This game doesn’t just look good like it should, but it feels good too. Menu systems have been a flaw with 2K games in the past- they’ve either been oddly structured and somewhat inaccessible, or they’ve just looked terrible. Not with NHL2K10- that’s been an issue fixed here in a big way- and when you add in everything that you can do in the game and how the game looks NHL 2K10 gets big points for presentation.

The only real knock to have with this game is the difficulty. On normal settings- you’re going to win games and lose games- but there are certain moves that you can do with a skater to assure you score when you want to- and sometimes that’s good- sometimes it’s bad. My point is you can score on the same move every time if you’re good. That’s good and bad.

NHL2K10 goes blow for blow with EA’s NHL 10, in fact it’s a toss up as to which game is the better game, but if you like Hockey you can’t lose with either. And if you like to watch lots of hockey you can’t go wrong with NHL2K10 because of it’s presentation.
