This is the best
installment of the Need to Speed
that we’ve seen in quite some time.
The past few versions of the game
have been somewhat uninspired with
too much of a focus on the Fast and
Furious culture… which is outdated.
No matter how hard they try to bring
it back. So when we get a change in
focus of the Need for Speed series
from the underground world of street
racing or whatever the hell they’ve
tried and failed with recently it’s
a good thing. Even though there’s no
real story to go along with this
game- it’s all about the racing.
And speaking of
the racing, it’s pretty good. This
game resembles DiRT in lots of ways-
one of them is that the controls are
simple even though the feel of the
cars seems more like a simulation
game. And there’s no real story to
go along with the game- you just
race different cars on different
tracks, with different rules. Simple
and fun- and that’s what racing
games should be about.
I mentioned that
this Need for Speed game resembles
DiRT- it doesn’t resemble DiRT as
much as it just feels like it with
the controls. Really this is one of
the best looking racing games I’ve
seen. Nice car effects, no
frame-rate loss, and some beautiful,
plush, environments on the tracks
and around them.
Need for Speed:
Shift gets major points as a racing
game- right now it heads to the
front of the games in the genre to
come out in the past two years and
if you have a chance to pick it up
and play it you definitely should.
