Need
for Speed: Hot
Pursuit
is EA’s return to
the franchise’s
roots with a some
new ideas thrown in
for good measure.
The game is pristine
and beautiful- the
town where it’s
played is called
Seacrest City and it
looks amazing.
Everything about
this game looks
amazing, the
realistic weather
effects are
spectacular to see
and the lighting is
perfect as well.
When great sights
and great sounds are
added to the concept
of the game of an
arcade style race
and chase and you’ve
got a great game.
This game feels like
the old Need for
Speed games used to
feel like- there’s
not a huge concept
behind it and it’s
not trying to be
something it’s not.
It’s a Need for
Speed game, the
formula did get old
5 years ago- but now
it’s good to have it
back.
Need
for Speed: Hot
Pursuit
is a must for any
fan of racing games.
We mentioned how
pristine Seacrest
City is. It is
definitely that, but
it’s a town where
everybody drives a
high-end sports car,
nothing is dirty or
grimy, and evidently
even the police
officers get
Lamborghini’s to
chase around
criminals who decide
to drive 180MPH
through the town.
The game has two
main modes- one
being a career mode
where you chase down
a car or avoid the
cops to increase
your rating in the
game and level up as
many times as you
can. And the other
being just a free
drive mode where you
can crash into
anything and
everything- and you
can turn the damage
to your car on/off.
The career mode is a
really fun game, the
free drive mode is
too boring to be any
kind of fun longer
than five minutes.
Need
for Speed: Hot
Pursuit
doesn’t have a ton
to it other than
it’s a great racing
game with some good
arcade style fun and
beautiful design.
There’s not much to
it, but you’ll be
playing for hour
after hour because
the game design and
gameplay is so
addictive.
