NBA 2K10 has
pushed ahead of NBA Live 10 over the
past decade. Through the 90s NBA
Live never really had any
competition. Since NBA 2K launched
ten years ago it's given NBA Live
everything it's wanted since its
inception most of the time getting
the better of EA. NBA 2K10 gets the
crown of best basketball game again
this year.
It gets that crown
with fast and furious gameplay
that's super realistic and really
can't be compared to by most sports
video games. What's so realistic
about it? Well mostly it's how the
players move and react, that's
always been there in the NBA 2K
series. But this year it's the
energy meter. From how it wears down
to how it wears down when you
spring. Quite frankly it's so
realistic that you get frustrated
that it's not more of an arcade
style game.
The presentation
of the game this year is a little
frustrating. You have to wait for
the ref to go and get the ball for
what seems like ten minutes at a
time which gets ludicrous. Then the
TV presentation of the game gets
frustrating. Nobody really cares
about what the next five game are
for the imaginary Chicago Bulls when
you're playing as the Lakers. They
make you see this screen and the
commentators talk about it, it's the
most frustrating thing possibly
ever.
The GM mode is in
this game again and it's still fun.
You also get NBA Today, which allows
you to replay the games that
happened that day. And you get a My
Player Mode that allows you to build
a superstar and take you through the
ranks of being an NBA Player. Not
without it's flaws, NBA 2K10 is
another solid installment in the
franchise. NBA Live got better this
year and it's closer to being better
than 2K than it has come on this
generation of consoles. So 2K
definitely needs tightened up
slightly, still this is a good game
and the basketball game to own if
you're a fan.
