Simon Barker is dreamy. Just
kidding. Well kind of….my wife, my
sister, and even my mother all
agree. One thing is for sure it’s
that Simon Barker finally found a
character that is him perfectly.
That’s Patrick Jane aka The
Mentalist. Starring in the crime
drama on CBS, Barker has really come
into his own on the show and
everything has fallen into place on
what is a good show.
Jane used to be a TV Psychic until
he pushed the wrong mans buttons on
a show and that man brutally
attacked and killed his family. From
then on Jane went through hell until
he found his way to the CBI
(California Bureau of Investigation)
and helps them solve crimes in hopes
of finding the serial killer that
murdered his wife and child
That’s such a brutal thing for a
show of this tone to get started on.
It ties a lot of things together and
brings a consistent villain to the
show but where there are a few
laughs on this show it started on
such a serious dramatic thing. That
says loads about how the show is
written week to week and the job
Barker has done as Jane.
Barker's main costar on the show is
Robin Tunney as Detective Teresa
Lisbon
most
known for her work on Prison Break
and The Craft. And she plays a great
cop. Something that you’d never
predicted for her back when The
Craft was released and she was
playing every naïve teenage role in
movies that Neve Campbell turned
down. Her constant on screen
chemistry with Barker makes the show
in lots of ways.
Season One of the Mentalist is six
discs and is worth getting
into if you like crime shows. I have
to admit that I dislike lots of
shows on CBS but I’m into this one
because of its originality. A good
show that hopefully will be on for a
few more years.
