Letters to Juliet
stars Amanda
Seyfried as Sophie,
a talented writer
who’s
underappreciated by
her co-workers at
the New Yorker, and
underappreciated by
her fiancé. When
Sophie goes to Italy
with her fiancé on a
trip to Italy before
their wedding she
visits Juliet’s Wall
and sees a woman
taking the letters
off of the wall. She
follows the woman
and discovers an
organization that
responds to the
letters by women
left for Juliet
asking for counsel
in the matters of
love.
While working with
the group, Sophie
discovers a letter
that was written
fifty years ago by a
woman named Claire.
Claire (played by
Vanessa Redgrave)
writes a letter to
Juliet regarding to
a lover named
Lorenzo. Fifty years
after the fact,
Sophie responds to
the letter and leads
an old woman on a
search for her Romeo
accompanied by her
grandson Charlie. On
their journey,
Claire finds the
love she’s lost, and
Sophie learns what
she needs to about
love.
Letters to Juliet
is one of the better
romantic comedies to
come out lately.
Amanda Seyfried is
good as Sophie, and
the rest of the cast
is good too. Overall
it’s a nice movie
that’s perfect for
date night. The male
lead opposite of
Seyfried is
Christopher Egan as
Charlie and he’s
kind of stale and
boring, but other
than that this movie
has a good story,
good acting, and it
even looks great
with all of the
different settings.
The movie is great
but the Blu-ray
features are a
little weak and
standard, there’s
nothing but the
typical stuff on
this release. That
doesn’t make it not
worth owning- it
just makes it
something you’re not
going to watch again
and again to see how
it was made.
Letters to Juliet
was a nice and
simple movie. It’s
perfect for date
night and it has a
good story. It’s not
something you’ll
want to take too
seriously, but it’s
a good movie.
