Travelers Tales has
developed seven Lego
Titles over the
years. There’s been
Lego
Indiana Jones
a couple of times,
Star
Wars
a couple of times,
Batman
once, and now
they’re getting into
Harry
Potter.
I wasn’t thrilled
about the five hour
adventure of button
mashing and building
objects over and
over again… until I
played the game.
This is a Lego title
that’s roughly 10
times more
entertaining than
THE previous 3
outings. With some
tremendous humor,
beautifully textured
and created Lego
versions of all of
the locations in the
world of Harry
Potter and really
some tremendous use
of the spells and
ideas from the
franchise
implemented in the
game--- this Lego
adventure might be
the best one yet.
The level creation
is outstanding- with
some great puzzles
that will entertain
all types of gamers,
the attention to
detail using those
little colored
blocks is what makes
this game so
incredible. The
candle holders, the
characters, the
paintings, the
items, and all of
the levels are
amazing. They
couldn’t have done a
better job with
paying homage to
both the Lego world
and the Harry Potter
world.
As for gameplay,
you’ll be delighted
that you’re not just
smashing and
crashing through
items. You use a
variety of spells on
a variety of items
to unlock Lego
coins. You do go
through the process
of collecting and
unlocking items
throughout the
course of the game.
It gets to be
slightly boring, but
it’s what the Lego
games are all about,
and it’s doubtful
that the intended
audience will get
bored with it.
Lego
Harry Potter: Years
1-4
is a welcome change
for Travelers Tales’
Lego series. It’s
brought a ton of
energy and new ideas
to a concept that
was in dire need of
it. It’s still not
for the older gamer
who’s not young at
heart, but it’s a
perfect game for the
younger gamer bored
with the typical
game, or just the
young at heart.
