Very
sadly, after the
release of
Jackass 3.5,
Ryan Dunn tragically
passed away in a car
accident. Obviously
I never knew the
guy.
But
after watching him
do some insanely
crazy stuff, me and
millions of other
people made a
connection with him.
I’ve never really
thought of
Jackass
as a bunch of guys
berating themselves
for money. I can
relate Knoxville,
Steve-O, Bam, and
the late Dunn to
friends of my own.
And that’s why it’s
easy to watch
Jackass,
because during the
process you feel
like you’re hanging
out with those guys
and that they’re
your friends. You
feel like one of the
gang. When actors
and famous people
have died in the
past I’d never
really felt sad
because I didn’t
know them or the
people that they
knew. When Dunn died
I was genuinely sad
for Dunn, Dunn’s
family, and the cast
and crew of
Jackass.
That’s because I’d
seen Ryan Dunn be a
real person and do
real things with his
friends over the
years. And that’s
what
Jackass
is to me. It’s about
gross outs and ‘that
hurts’ moments but
it’s also getting to
watch friends do
what real friends do
to each other for an
hour and half.
Jackass is the only
likable reality show
to come out and it
lost a great person
with Ryan Dunn.
Jackass 3.5
is a lot like
Jackass 2.5.
The stunts and
footage that didn’t
make it to
Jackass 3D,
got released with
Jackass 3.5.
The end product is
something that’s
doesn’t quite feel
like one of the
Jackass
movies but it’s the
next closest thing.
It’s kind of like a
Jackass
that couldn’t be
shown on TV. In
Jackass 3.5
you’re getting an
hour and a half more
of some very funny
footage from the
guys. Some funnier
than others but
altogether adding up
to be a fun watch.
The
stunt footage is of
course the extra
footage for
Jackass 3D
but included and
incorporated with
that footage are
interviews and
inside looks with
the cast and crew
that was shot while
they were doing the
European tour
promoting the movie.
The stunts are
great, some more
than others. But
guys talking about
stunts gone wrong
and other subjects
are just as cool to
watch. That footage
is edited in to the
Jackass 3.5
experience
perfectly. You can’t
say that this is a
Jackass
movie, but you can
say it’s a must-own
for any
Jackass
fan.
Jackass 3.5
is a must for any
fan not just because
of the extra stunts
you get and the cast
interviews
integrated into the
feature, but also
because of the bonus
features. There are
a ton of outtakes
involved just like
the blu-ray release
of Jackass 3D, but
there’s also a look
back at the
inception of Jackass
and it chronicles
how most of the guys
came to be involved
with it. There are
some really
insightful bonus
features and they’re
great to watch.
There are deleted
scenes and outtakes
which are a little
different, but those
are even fun to
watch as well.
There’s even a
featurette on the
guys’ adventures in
Europe, which like
everything else
involved in the
feature, is
hilarious.
Jackass 3.5
is a great release
for any fan of the
series. The stunts
aren’t as impressive
or funny as they are
in the actual movie
but they’re still
cool to watch. The
real treat here
though are all of
the interviews and
bonus features, they
did a great job
putting the package
together.
