“I Love You, Man” stars Paul Rudd and Jason Spiegel in a friend meets friend bromance. Peter Klaven (Rudd) never had any guy-friends he was always a girlfriend guy- he focused all of his energy on that. In other words- he was a hos before bros kind of guy. When he gets engaged and overhears his fiancé Zooey (Rashida Jones) talking about him not having any friends and how akward it can be… he goes out to meet some dudes.

His quest goes through some odd pairings, but eventually he finds Sidney Fife.  Sidney is an investor with too much free time and nobody to share that time with. He doesn’t want to be in a relationship and all of his friends have moved on and are married or married to their jobs. Sidney and Peter meet and they hit it off and become good friends. The movie follows the two’s friendship through its initial peaks and valleys.

Paul Rudd has moved into his own as a successful actor. In the 90’s, he was mainly a role-actor. Now he is a full-blown actor that carry a movie. Especially raunchy comedies. He’s hilarious and he’s really good in this movie. Spiegel usually plays the same type of guy in every movie he’s in and as Sydney that character hasn’t changed. He’s super chill, funny, and a solid dude. Both Spiegel and Rudd are great in this flick. Rashida Jones stars as Zooey in the other main character in the film and she plays a good girlfriend very well. She has awesome facial expressions in everything she’s in. She acts with that a lot of the time and in “I Love You Man” she’s perfect. Rounding out the cast of solid actors in smaller roles include Jon Favreau, Sarah Burns, and Jamie Presley.

“I Love You, Man” is a comedic gem. Jason Spiegel and Paul Rudd are perfect on screen together though you wouldn’t expect them to be. It was a great concept for a comedy that hadn’t been done before. It was executed well from beginning to end and even though it was predictable- it was supposed to be- the laughs are abundant. This is an enjoyable light-hearted flick from Rudd and Co.
