Fired Up is a
raunchy teen comedy. That much we
know is true. But whether it's a
comedy geared towards male or female
audiences, that's kind of up in the
air. The storyline itself sounds
like something stolen from a
potential Porky's 24, but instead
it's just Fired Up.
Shawn Colfax
and Nick Brady played by Nicholas
D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olson
are two high school football studs.
They're really into girls and
they're probably a little too horny,
but this is where the male
demographic comes in. Our two main
characters are raunchy in language
and in demeanor. They decide that
football camp for two weeks in the
Texas sun is probably going to be a
bummer so instead they opt to attend
Cheerleading camp and join the
squad. From here the toilet humor
goes as far as it can go into the
story and lots of laughs are
obtained. But here's the thing, the
female demo also gets thrown into
the mix with of course the guys
turning over a new leaf, and lots of
Bring It On
references. This is a teen comedy
and it obtains lots of laughs that
way for both sexes.
D'Agosto and
Christian Olson are the stars of the
movie, and rightfully so. Just like
Dumb and Dumberer, Christian Olson
comes off as hilarious in this flick
and D'Agosto doesn't do a terrible
job as Olson's partner in crime in
their cheerleading scam.
Fired Up is all
together a funny movie. It's got
it's dull moments and it's tasteless
moments but it all builds into a
flick that's enjoyable and fairly
decent. It's not for everyone, but
if you're into cheerleading, or
you're into toilet humor, this one's
for you.
